Are you interested in learning more about foraging? Join us on one of our courses, where we’ll embark on a fascinating journey into the world of wild fruits, herbs and fungi!

Fruits of the Forage have spent the last twenty years discovering and experimenting with the bounty of exciting wild flavours that the beautiful British countryside has to offer. We’re excited to present the opportunity for one of our experienced, passionate Foragers to share their in-depth knowledge of how to identify, safely pick and eat the endless variety of wild food our countryside provides. Whether it’s one of our Spring courses, uncovering the secrets of the freshest herbs and flowers beginning to emerge, or an Autumn course where we dive deep into the hidden world of fungi, fruits and berries, there are new and captivating flavours to be found throughout!

Every course you will be gifted a Fruits of the Forage tote bag to aid you in your future foraging adventures, as well as a free jar of one of our delicious, unique preserves to enjoy.

What should I expect on the day?

An initial 10-minute introduction to the basics of foraging, legality, etiquette and your instructor, before a 2hr walk around the countryside, studying the exciting wild food we come across. In total we should have time to identify and discuss up to 30 species of plants, fungi and fruit! At the end of the course the instructor will take a Q&A session for any budding foragers interested in learning more. Terrain throughout will be uneven and quite often muddy, so if you have mobility issues, please let us know in advance at customers@fruitsoftheforage.co.uk before booking so we can discuss how we can best facilitate your needs.

What should I bring with me?

The British weather can be unpredictable at the best of times, so please dress appropriately – the course will only be cancelled if the weather is extremely severe. Warm clothing, waterproof footwear or hiking boots, and a change of clothing if wet weather is predicted are all recommended! We would also suggest bringing a bottle of water and hand sanitiser, as we will be encouraging the handling and tasting of wild foods throughout.

Optionally, a notebook/camera are also very useful if you’d like to record your discoveries for future reference!
