Spring Foraging Course (2nd April 2022)
Where: Bollin Valley Riverside Park
When: Saturday 2nd April 2022
Wild Food Walks
Join us as we immerse ourselves in the wonders of nature and look at the edible fauna and flora growing all around us. From Countryside hedgerows to urban parks wild food is everywhere you just need to know what to look for!
With 25 years combined foraging knowledge we at Fruits Of The Forage have always been eager to share our love of wild flavours and a day spent with one of our experienced foraging team is a great way for us to pass on this knowledge. Whether it's exploring the fresh greens and herbs emerging in Spring, the bountiful fruits, flowers and spices of Summer or looking at the delicious fungi, nuts and berries of Autumn there are always always fresh organic ingredients available and what better way to learn about them than with a group of like minded people surrounded by nature!
Walks will include tasters of the seasonal flavours to help you engage with what you’re learning about, plus each paying participant will receive a Fruits of the Forage tote bag to collect their foraged bounties plus a jar of one of our delicious preserves to take away with you.
What to expect
Duration of the walk will be 2 hours, encompassing an initial introduction into the laws regarding foraging and where you can and can’t pick and then we will be heading into the wild! This will often involve rough, uneven terrain and we will be standing for the duration so if you have mobility issues please contact us firstname.lastname@example.org before booking a course to discuss how we can facilitate your needs.
What to bring
As we all know the British weather can be unpredictable and unless it is a really severe weather the courses will continue so please come dressed appropriately, sturdy waterproof footwear, warm clothing if necessary, change of clothes if wet weather is predicted, a drink - wild flavours can be very different from mass produced foods so somer water may be needed for some to cleanse the palette! Snacks are also recommended for those who need an energy boost.
We also recommend bringing a pad and paper to document info and of course your wild finds alongside a camera to take pics for future reference.
Tickets are for one person 12 and over only. Children under 12 are welcome provided they are accompanied by a paying adult, 1 child per person, no babes in arms please as this might not be suitable for them.
If you have any food allergies please contact us email@example.com and let us know beforehand so we can amend our offerings.
